AUTHOR AT FAYETTEVILLE STATE SYMPOSIUM SAYS READING TURNED HIS LIFE AROUND
 

Books helped turn the chapter on R. Dwayne Betts' life. On Saturday, this 30-year-old writer, poet and teacher encouraged an audience of parents and youth alike to read.
"Everything I've gotten, I've gotten out of books. We want young people to read," he said. "That's my main thing on education. If you read a lot, things will work themselves out."
Betts, a convicted felon who spent more than eight years behind bars for carjacking before turning his life around, was guest speaker during the third annual Education Symposium held in the School of Business and Economics on the campus of Fayetteville State University... (click link for more)
